Where sport meets fashion

Welcome sports innovators to the future of sport.

Today we are going to look at sports equipment that have been inspired by fashion or a new cultural hype:

JLS ร— EVERLAST Boxing Fashion Collection

โ€œJohn Lawrence Sullivan and Everlast have come together for a new boxing collection honoring six of the biggest legends in the sport.

With a background as a professional boxer, Yanagawa named his brand after John Lawrence Sullivan, the first-ever heavyweight champion of gloved boxing. Launched in Tokyo back in 2003, the label is often known for its masculine blends of old and new, with silhouettes often subverting traditional suiting and drawing upon various post-punk and music influences.โ€

Justin Reed: Streetwear inspired boxing bags

โ€œLA-based curator Justin Reed is known for acquiring some of the worldโ€™s rarest designer items. Over the years, heโ€™s shown a particular interest in Chrome Hearts, showcasing a Rogue Weight Bench in January and more recently, listing a Stamped Wooden Moving Crate for $15,000.

The latest ultra-rare CH oddity coming out of the consignment shop is a 100lb heavy bag finished with leather cross embellishments and silver hardware. Arriving in an all-black finish, the set comes with built-in straps and hooks which help suspend the punching bag from the ceiling. A zip-top also suggests that the filling inside can be removed, with the CH components acting more as a sleeve".โ€

Admiral: Flick-to-kick (retro inspired โ€œsubbuteoโ€ collection?)

Formation is a process of development, shaping and arranging materials to create. It comes with guidelines that define how something is created. To evolve the Admiral Sporting Goods Co. brand, we must formulate our ideas and concepts whilst understanding the boundaries of what we have set out to create. Intelligently made product that focuses on an era of manufacturing that was committed to hardwearing garments.

The formation collection for Spring Summer 23 continues to explore our sporting and military history. Formation in both these contexts have a very similar meaning whilst the application can be different. We explore this concept through our miniseries Good Form, Free Form and Bandy. Colour is once again an integral part of the story working with unique garment washes set on Bauhaus colourways.

Formation doesnโ€™t have to be rigid it can offer peace in its simplicity.
