Better decisions, less grumpy crowds

Welcome sports innovators to the future of sport.

Here are the top 15 interesting sports technology links today:

Trending

1. Unlocking the secrets of sports sponsorship  - Link

Now this company are interesting. There are plenty of sponsorship companies but this company caught our eye when they secured $35m from Spectrum Equity.

They effectively unlock the sponsorship market with clear data, priced opportunities and performance optimisation.

Brilliant for teams, brands and media companies.

2. Swim England supporting new programme for expectant and new mums - Link

Good Boost, who work in partnership with Swim England on the Water Wellbeing programme, are set to launch a new Aqua Natal programme.

This is an excellent programme by Swim England to include underrepresented communities in sport. Congrats! and hope many other governing bodies follow suit.

3. Spiideo giving local referees and umpires VAR from a single camera - Link

Down at the local soccer games, I hear more noise form the stands about bad decisions the referees have made than encouragement for the players. This may be exclusive to lower league soccer in the UK, but I imagine that it is pretty worldwide.

Well now the refs could show the crowd via VAR that their decision was right using Spiideo instant replay cameras + software.

Saving 1000's of refs around the world this is a great company to follow if they get the distribution and pricing right.

1. The Snorinator helps people stop snoring - Link

Firstly great name!

Second - super simple. We reckon the snorinator could be a great company when they can get an affordable price.

2. WARMBOND is the only versatile fire pit you want - Link

Absolutely cracking looking firepit currently funding on Indiegogo.

Almost like the Tesla for firepits. It's smokeless, looks good and seems super easy to light.

3. EWGO is the ultra ear cleaner - Link

Want a colonic for your ear?

Probably not the best description but the EWGO is another in a long line of ear (and nose) cleaners sweeping Kickstarter and Indiegogo. This one uses water under pressure to clear the ear.

1. B Yoga making hand weights beautiful - Link

The Helix Weights are hand weights that you won’t want to hide in the closet after your workout. Good looks aren’t the only thing going for them—their shape is made to fit comfortably in your hand, while their smooth silicone coating provides a comfortable grip. And at 3 lbs each, they’re the ideal weight for high-rep sets, from yoga sculpt to cycling, barre to boxing.

2. Supplement strips helping you sleep at night - Link

Is this a new way to package supplements that will encourage more acceptance?

It's neat to take something from another market and convert it to your own. That's what Nutraditions have done by creating their Hello Dreams Sleep Strips.

"Quiet the mind, drift into a deep slumber, and awake restored.* Each Hello Dreams™ sleep strip is infused with melatonin & Calm Down™, our proprietary blend of herbs."

3. Do we need to start ultrasonically cleaning our vegetables? - Link

We find this really strange to be honest.

For years we have been washing our food with tap water but now Soundway are telling us to ultrasonically clean our food before eating. Apparently washing food with clean water can not be completely clean, so they recommend the use of this ultrasonic purifier.

If this gets to a price that could be used for LMIC's then I am in, but for HIC's it just doesn't seem as if there will be a big market. We hope they prove us wrong.

Sports Science Quote of the Day

The aim of this work was to develop an AI-controlled fitness trainer to tend to each user’s needs. It includes an AI-based voice assistant that acts as a virtual fitness trainer to guide the user in performing a certain routine of exercises, which was implemented through the use of NLP to recognize the user’s voice for commands to activate the trainer and body pose recognition to monitor the user’s postures for the workouts in real-time.

AI Sports Equipment Design of the Day

We are loving AI at the moment and think it will change how we design sports equipment forever, so here is our new design of the day.

Today's Inspiration:

The Helix Weights are hand weights,

We can probably scratch this one down as a fail. It appears to be very difficult to design beautiful hand weights using AI.

Hopefully it will provide some inspiration!
