Interactive treadmill vertical display

The following innovations are key to this treadmill design. Firstly, using new technology (Micro Infrared Thermal Imaging Technology), Fat Burning displays real-time statistics and information about the user’s body on a screen.

An accompanying infrared thermal imaging technology provides a heat distribution map on the screen. This will help improve information feedback, allowing users to track their workout and be fully conscious of the process of their body burning fat, thus encouraging users to complete their workout.

The new treadmill also includes a fan to relieve the discomfort level.

Climbing CUBE

Each city has its landmark sculpture, and for Nagoya City in Japan, this is the Cube Climbing Wall. The wall is located in one of the city’s theme parks. Its design is both functional, sustainable and sculptural.

Made of concrete, the cube provides ample climbing surfaces that are aesthetically pleasing at the same time. The cube is divided into 5 horizontal layers that are rotatable to provide different climbing experiences. Furthermore, the solar panel installed at the top of the cube provides the power necessary for the mechanism to rotate the cube automatically from time to time.

P-scooter short for Pack Scooter

The P-SCOOTER (Pack Scooter) is an electric scooter with a very good machine-to-man ratio that makes it perfect as a mode of transportation in a busy city. It is designed to be compact when not in use so that it can fit completely in a backpack.

To make it even more convenient, the scooter is compact, lightweight and easily folded to fit in a backpack. This lets the user be hands-free and facilitates navigation through crowded streets, stations and spaces. P-SCOOTER is also designed with complete consideration to the user’s riding experience. Skin tape for eczema

In the United States alone, 30% of the population suffers from eczema. The causes of eczema are unknown, and there is no cure available. The symptoms and effects are compromised skin that cannot retain water and becomes very dry, causing itching and making it vulnerable to infections.

Skintact is inspired by athletic tape used by athletes for joint stabilisation and muscle support. Skintact patches are packaged in refillable dispensers and come in a tape-like roll with a pre-perforated backer to preserve the medicated adhesive. Users can tear off a strip of patches at the desired length and apply it to the affected area; the modular patch shape covers both small and large areas. A breathable but dense patch weave reduces moisture loss while the translucent thread blends into every skin colour. The design of the Skintact patch is clean and has a dynamic aesthetic.

When prescribed, UV light may be used to fight more severe eczema, as light therapy has been shown to increase vitamin D production and boost bacteria-fighting cells. The SKINTACT dispenser accommodates a battery-operated UV light node that attaches to select patches. Only one wireless node is needed on a single patch for a prescribed amount of time, as the fibres in each patch distribute the light throughout the entire field for effective coverage.

Smart underwater goggles

Notch is a dive kit that is comprised of a digital compass watch with enhanced guiding capabilities and a pair of goggles with vibration sensors. Since GPS (Global Positioning System) signals do not work underwater, the Notch system uses current buoy technology to emit sonar signals. The Notch watch determines a diver’s location by receiving sonar signals emitted by buoys located around the dive site and allows the diver to navigate towards underwater attractions.

Goggle-mounted vibration sensors provide divers with directions by vibrating either on the left or right side to signal navigational turns. This allows divers to focus their attention on their surroundings, eliminating the need to refer to their watch screens constantly for directional bearings.

Wiggle theory kinaesthetic design

The Wiggle is a 3D zip line connected to a bent I-beam to create a rhythmic series of hills and valleys en route to an aerial crescendo. Seven compressive members are held in space by 24 tensile lines. Tensegrity suspends this giant track, so installation is achieved by pulling at a single point, greatly reducing the cost of erecting the superstructure.

Wiggles can be modified, affording new challenges to even frequent users. Mimicking kelp roots, large nets buried at shallow depths distribute the requisite anchoring force. Between these biomimetic anchors and a low drag coefficient (both above and below the waterline), the Wiggle aims to emerge unscathed even from hurricanes.
